Nice high water tides allowed us to work both morning and afternoon bites with live pinfish producing the greatest action. Cooler mornings have the Snook on the move inland. We found good numbers of Snook of all sizes fishing the creeks in San Carlos Bay and the Caloosahatchee River. September and October are my favorite time of year to target big line siders. Big fish start their migration back into the inland waters of Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Quality baits are plentiful all along Pine Island Sound from Sanibel Island north to Captiva Island. September also means big Redfish. Especially on the higher tides of Matlacha Pass. Upper slot reds love them some cut bait deep inside the mangroves that surround the pass. Give Captain Jay a call today to book your trip of lifetime. Mangrove snappers have been the highlight of our trips the last two weeks. The weather has been very cooperative, allowing us to hit some of our near shore reefs for some tasty Mang’s. We are finding great quality fish just offshore of Sanibel Island Captiva Island. The early morning and late evening bite has been the best with live bait. Lots of Snook in the Inshore Waters providing some great action on light tackle. The summer high tides are driving the fish deep into the mangroves of Pine Island Sound. Finding some nice size fish along the mouth of the river on both the Cape Coral and Fort Myers Shorelines. Given the good fishing we’ve had so far this summer, we expect nothing but the best in August and September. Taking full advantage of the high tides this time of year has paid off for our anglers with steady catches of upper/over slot Redfish waaaaay up under the trees. We had our best luck in mid Pine Island on both the Sanibel Island and Captiva Island sides as well as the Pine Island side of the sound. Calm summer mornings have given us smooth seas to the nearshore snapper grounds where we have been rewarded with some slob Mangrove snappers! Not only a blast on light tackle but probably one of the best tasting fish in the Gulf! Snook continues to keep us busy along the Cape Coral and Fort Myers shorelines. Catch and release only for them this time of year but the fight is still a blast for first timers!
