The temperature and the fishing are heating up in southwest Florida and the big Snook were by far the hottest bite last week. We found good numbers of fish all along Sanibel Island and Captiva Island on the strong incoming tide as well as some nicer fish showing up along the river in Fort Myers and Cape Coral.
We were fortunate to have multiple charters seeing 30 to 40 Snook releases with some landings of 30+ inch fish. We continue to see some good numbers of Redfish along Matlacha Pass as well as some nice fish. Capt. Jay Rod Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Sanibel Fishing Charters (239) 707-3756

We took full advantage of the pre-front Snook bite this past week with anglers hooking up with all sizes of fish including some double hook ups!
The best action came in the late afternoon high tides in Pine Island Sound near Sanibel and Captiva Islands. The Caloosahatchee River along Cape Coral held bigger fish that couldn’t resist fresh live bait. We also managed to find some upper slot Redfish in the mouth of the river along Fort Myers and Punta Rassa. Tarpon have returned to the area and will be the targeted species when requested by our guests. Capt. Jay Rod Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Sanibel Fishing Charters (239) 707-3756 Now is the time to start planning your Cape Coral tarpon fishing charter! We expect the best time of year for our area to be late April through May.
Please contact Captain Jay directly at (239) 707-3756 to check availability and discuss the best trip possible for you and your guests. The phone call is free and we would love to hear from you. Our plan to target big Redfish in Matlacha Pass worked out great until the end of the week cold front dropped the water temperatures by almost 13 degrees! Needles to say, the fish were hungry leading up to the front and the bite did not disappoint our guests.
Pine Island Sound along Sanibel and Captiva Island held big trout last week with good numbers on the deeper grass beds. Snook are just now getting fired up along the river in Cape Coral and Fort Myers. The forecasted warming trend should really get them going. We saw Redfish showing up in good numbers with a decent amount of over slot fish being caught on the afternoon incoming tides. The warming waters in the coming weeks should really get them going!
