The warming temperatures have made led to some red hot fishing! We’re talking redfish and red grouper. Inshore, the warming waters have really fired up the redfish. Bigger fish are biting on the flats during the incoming tides while the smaller, more aggressive fish are active in the passes and creeks. The warm forecast for this coming week should keep the bite on fire. Offshore, the red grouper bite has been nothing short of extraordinary! With the colder water temperatures, the fish are closer to shore. With this weeks lack of winds and great tides, the offshore bite was outstanding. This week, we ran 3 Captain For Hire trips that all resulted in red grouper limits. Salty Native Charters offers Captain For Hire charters on your boat. We bring the bait, tackle and gear for a great trip and teach you how to get on the fish on your boat!!! Call today to book your trip!

The back to back cold fronts made for some rainy, cold mornings this week. The sunny afternoons helped turn the bite around and made for some awesome fishing adventures! Big trout and some hungry Snook were the bite of choice along the river in Fort Myers. Cape Coral saw an increase in Sheephead action along the mangroves and docks. Sanibel and Captiva recorded the warmest water temperatures and some of the hottest bites with Snook and Redfish biting on both the incoming and outgoing tides. With a record cold winter, look for the spring bite to be one of the best in recent memory. Book your April/May charter today to get on the action!!
Capt. Jay Rod Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Sanibel Fishing Charters www.saltynativecharters.com (239) 707-3756 The weather in Southwest Florida has been the topic of conversation on the boat all week. The cooler than normal temperatures have the fish on the move which is not always a bad thing. The Snook bite in Cape Coral has been great. Especially before the fronts. Lots of smaller hungry fish to be had. The trout bite has also been very good along the river in Fort Myers. Sanibel and Captiva Islands are holding good numbers of larger fish in the passes and deeper waters that tend to be warmer. Fortunately, the sunny days help warm the inshore waters fairly quickly which always helps with the bite. Looks like we will have a couple more fronts this coming week which will help with the pre-front bite.
