The last two weeks of October provided some of the best fishing we’ve seen this fall. Redfish were by far the biggest treat for our clients with big over-slot catches on every trip. The passes along Sanibel Island and Captiva Island paid off on the strong outgoing tides. We worked the higher afternoon tides along the mouth of the river were we found nice Snook of all sizes on both the Cape Coral and Fort Myers shorelines. We landed big numbers of Snook over the last week with fish sizes anywhere from overslot to juveniles. Found them all over Pine Island sound from North Captiva to the south parts of Sanibel Island. We haven’t been into Matlacha Pass in a few weeks but found decent upper slot and rat Redfish along the mouth of Caloosahatchee River into Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Snook have started their migration from the spawning grounds off the beach into the backcountry and estuaries. We found nice numbers of big boys and girls this past week deep inside the feeder creeks of Sanibel and Captiva Islands as well as the east wall of Pine Island Sound. We also found great numbers of lower slot fish on the afternoon high tides along the Cape Coral and Fort Myers shorelines of the Caloosahatchee River. Redfish are also starting to show up in big numbers. Especially in Matlacha Pass! Once again, the late afternoon high tide proved to be best for catching the upper slot fish. July has been providing some of the best Snook fishing we have experienced all summer. We have been taking advantage of the higher summer tides and finding big fish deep under the bushes. The mangrove shorelines along Sanibel and Captiva Islands are providing the best numbers early in the morning. We’ve also been catching some upper slot fish on the outgoing tide in the late afternoon in the southern parts of Pine Island Sound and Matlacha Pass. Big Snook have moved out to the passes and beaches but still good numbers of slot fish inshore. We caught nice, upper slot Snook along Sanibel and Captiva Island passes. Plenty of quality Snook still around areas of Pine Island Sound as well as the shores of Cape Coral and Fort Myers. We found great numbers of quality Redfish in Matlacha pass last week on the late afternoon high tides. Fish were in their summertime pattern of deep in the bushes with the high water. Still catching some very nice gator Trout along the Caloosahatchee River just minutes from our home dock in Caoe Coral. Still some dates still available in June! Great to see some significant numbers of Redfish returning to our area. Our guests managed some good catches of reds on late morning high tides on both the east and west sides of Pine Island. We covered some ground from Sanibel Island to Captiva over to the St. James City to find the fish and it payed off. Snook continue to provide some great excitement for our guests. And although they are now catch and release, no one is complaining when they are hooked up! Bigger fish starting to move out to the beaches but still some quality fish to be found along the shores of Fort Myers and Cape Coral. We don’t usually focus on Trout but wow, have we landed some gators these past 2 months!! We’ve been finding some great fish along Matlacha Pass as well as the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River.
